Focus Motorsports Ministries Needs Your Help Update

Today (7/21/2008) I recieved a call from Bill Krick's daughter. When the number popped up on my phone I thought it was Pastor Krick, just checking in as he was known to do from time to time. But this time it was his daughter calling to let me know that Bill has had a heart attack. Needless to say, I was in shock and disbelief, so I was not able to gather too much information about his condition. He is in a North Carolina hospital and will be having heart surgery. I am not sure of any other specifics and it is probably not my place to publish that anyway. But, I felt the need to let everyone know that Bill and his family really need your thoughts and caring as they go through this trying time.

Previously written post

The ARCA/ReMax Series was good to me during my time there. While race in the series for five years I was fortunate to meet some great people. Don't get me wrong, the racing was fun, but I now realize that the people I met while I was there was much more important that any on track results. Two of the most important people I met were Bill and Diana Krick.

Bill and Diana are the founders of Focus Motorsports Ministries (http://www.focusmm.org/). Focus has been a huge undertaking for the Kricks. They travel to each race to provide everyone in the garage or anyone at the track with their uplifting guidance. Each week they put together a worship service for the owners, drivers, and families attending the ARCA races. Not only do they provide a time and a place for worship but they are always walking the garage area to greet the competitors and other guests in the garage. Bill doesn't care if you are the fastest car or the slowest, he just cares that you are okay. He always asks about those in need and does whatever he can to provide comfort for anyone that is hurting. If you take the checkerd flag or end up taking the ride to the infield care center, the Kricks are always there. You may not even know them and they may not know you but they have your well being in mind. It may be your first race in the series or your last, they do not care about that. Bill and Diana do all of this on their own. They rely totally on donations of cash, auction items, hotel rooms, gas, or whatever you can provide so they can chase their dreams of helping others.

This week I was made aware that FocusMM may be in jeopardy of not being able to continue traveling to the ARCA races. At first, I was a little shocked and then I just got mad. I know that is not the right attitude so I decided to turn that anger into a more positive thing and try to help FocusMM and the Kricks. We all have certain people and causes that we can passionately get behind and Focus Motorsports Ministries, and more importantly, Bill and Diana Krick are one of those causes I am behind. They have helped us for years. Now, it is time to help them. Money is tight for everyone. Fuel is expensive for everyone. Hotel rooms are ridiculously high. So, let's all get behind them and do what we can to keep their dreams alive.

It is terrible for me to say, but I have only seen Bill and Diana a few times since I have not been around the ARCA garage. I have fallen out of touch with them but they still hold a special place with me. Hopefully, it is not too late to keep their messages going at the track. And, whether any of us realize it or not we all need people like them in our lives. From this point on, I will try to make more of an effort to help and get help for FocusMM.org and more importantly for Bill and Diana Krick.
